No Image Who are we? We are a small group, formed in September 2004 with interests in Power boating, learning to Water Ski and generally messing about on the water - but always in a safe, fun way with total respect for other water and land users and the environment. Why this Website and why set up a club? 3 Reasons 1 - Power boating since January 2004 we have become a little frustrated at the lack of facilities for Power boating and the lack of help that appears to be out there for those new to the sport, there seems to be plenty of help and support for sailing - and thats good, but out of all the clubs we have enquired with only one seemed particularly keen to welcome a novice Power boater. 2 - The clubs with which enquiries were made seemed to be looking at membership fees in excess of £300 per year, more if you happened not to live close to their base and more again if you owned your own boat? It is as if someone wishes to keep the sport 'elite'. 3 - There is very little in the way of public facilities for Power boating, some local authorities / public organisations seem to view Power boating as a destructive anti social activity and do not provide the same or similar level of facilities as they do for other watersports - we think that all sports should be treated equally. We have formed a small club believing that the idea of a club should be to simply bring together like minded individuals so that they can enjoy their sport together thereby giving them greater opportunities to do so, but also to give people who would like to try the sport, but who cannot afford their own equipment, the opportunity to do so - opening out the sport to all, not just those with lots of money. Also, where possible, to share resources and equipment thereby limiting the expense and financial outlay of any one individual, it is not about making lots of money, having lots of bureaucracy and owning expensive buildings - although the use of a private lake would be nice. We would like to use the club platform to ask and persuade these authorities to allow power boating the same freedoms as these other watersports, by providing or allowing the use of resources and facilities in order to encourage more people into the sport.
