One of the best things you can do on your visit to Wales is take part in one of the many adventure activities the area has to offer. The great thing about visiting North Wales is that there’s plenty of accommodation near Zip World and other popular adventure centres so you won’t have to venture far to make the most of your day.

If you haven’t already heard of Zip World, at Blaenau Ffestiniog, it offers the world’s first 4 person zip lining experience and the longest zip line in Europe. The Titan lines run across the Llechwedd Slate Quarry which is now used as central tourist attraction. At Zip World, there’s something for all the family with a range of other activities to do all in one place.  Bounce Below, set up inside an illuminated cave and lets your inner child run wild. Never before will you of had an experience like this. The Cavern, lets you explore a network of hidden away caverns which have been inaccessible for over 200 years. After your training course, you’ll take on the caverns with obstacles like rope bridges and tunnels.

If you’re looking to get out in the sun, then you might proffer to be up in the tree tops instead at Zip World, Betws-y-Coed. Zip line, bounce and overcome obstacles amongst the trees in this fantastic North Wales forestry.  Climb 60 ft high above the ground, from tree to tree with a course of canopies, ropes and zip lines. Or if you’re really looking to test your nerves, Plummet from the 100ft tree parachute simulator which towers right above the trees. The revolutionary fan below ensures a super light landing.  Another fantastic ride at Betws Zip World is the Skyride; Europe’s highest giant swing. It hoists up to five people, 80 ft in the air before one rider will release the lever which will send the group through launching through the air.

Ready for something extraordinary? Not too far from Betws-y-Coed is Zip World Bethesda, which features the fastest zip line in the World; Velocity. This ride is so thrilling you’ll need to get your confidence up on ‘Little Zipper’ first before taking a ride up to the top of the quarry in the red Zip World trucks. Take in the outstanding views over Anglesey before you get attached to the line to begin your incredible experience. When you’re ready, the staff will set you flying through the air with speeds in excess of 100mph.

If an adventure on the water is more for you, give the National White Water Centre in Frongoch a go.  Here, you can try out Rafting and Canyoning on the river Tryweryn. Before making your way down the rapids, you’ll be kitted out in full gear and be briefed on rafting techniques before you hit the waters. You can choose from a calmer ride on the 2-3 lower rivers or if you’re looking for something a bit more fast paced, the team will take you up to the 3-4 grade Upper Tryweryn.

Not too far in the other direction is Glasfryn Parc, Pwllheli. Here, you can try out quad biking, go karting, and clay pigeon shooting.  Here, there’s a junior circuit (for children aged 8-13) and a senior circuit to kart on. Your experience will last for six minutes, racing around a 600 meter outside track.  If you’re feeling competitive, try out a grand prix session, with computer timings and medals for the winners!
