Events in North Wales

Throughout the years Llandudno has been host to some of the most popular events that attract customers from all over Britain, especially events such as Llandudno’s own Victorian Extravaganza. This is a large event that takes over the whole of Llandudno’s Mostyn Street which runs straight down through the centre of Llandudno’s town.

There will be all the usual old fashioned rides such as the large carousel, and of course the traditional parade including all the old steam engines that roam around the streets. The parade includes many musicians from all over. The Extravaganza takes place on the first May bank holiday weekend and is followed by the Llandudno Air Show on the second bank holiday weekend in May.

Colwyn Bay Promenade day offers similar attractions to Llandudno’s Victorian extravaganza plus more attractions in terms of music and groups. For example in 2010 there were wildlife displays, giant inflatables and market traders. The Colwyn Bay Prom day hosts entertainment for roughly 60,000 people across a two mile stretch. This year Colwyn Bay Prom Xtra takes place on 16th – 17th May.

Other events such as the popular Wakestock are taking place in Abersoch, featuring some of the most popular bands of our time. For those who do not know what Wakestock is, it is a large music festival that takes over an entire weekend allowing members attending to camp over with all the other music fanatics and enjoy a weekend of loud music and wake boarding. Allowing the professionals to show off their style, skills and tricks to all the viewers. Not only is the music highly rated, but the atmosphere of the crowd is also extremely positive. Wakestock takes place from the 11th – 13th  July to  giving the fans a great amount of time to relax, meet new people, see their favourite bands and much more.

Every October in the forests of Clocaenog near Llyn Brenig and Penmachno near Betws y Coed is the Cambrian Rally. This is host to some of the greatest WRC (World Rally Championship) drivers and includes some of the greatest rally cars at this time. The race runs through these forests of North Wales and gives the drivers a great challenge. The fans will see top drivers performing break neck speeds.

The Woodfest is arriving once again in 2015. The event takes place in Caerwys this year on the 27th, 28th and 29th. Like every other year, 17 chainsaw artists will be sculpting models with nothing but a chainsaw. The wood chopping and pole climbing competitions are being hosted as well as logging competitions and mountain bike challenges. These are just a small selection of some of the smaller events that are happening within this large event. Woodfest takes place from late May to early June.

These examples are just a few that are taking place in North Wales throughout 2014. Throughout North Wales there is always something on, so even if you visit for a short period of time without any planning, you will still find something to occupy yourself and the family with.
