Caernarfon is a beautiful town in Wales. It’s a great place to visit, whether you’re just passing through or want to stay and explore. There are five things that you absolutely have to do when you’re here, staying in holiday parks North Wales.

1) Visit Caernarfon Castle

There are few castles that have seen as much history as Caernarfon Castle, and few places with as rich of ancestral heritage. From its construction by Edward I of England to provide shelter for military campaigns against the Welsh populace, and later by Owain Glyndwr’s Welsh rebellion, there are few more interesting places in Wales.

2) Walk Alongside the Menai

The menai strait is a vast stretch of water that separates the isle of Anglesey from mainland Wales. You can spot the likes of fishermen here on many occasions! The town has so much history behind it but not all will be revealed in one day – so remember to come back another time! If you go for an early morning walk, you’ll enjoy views of fish jumping in and out of the water.   -The Menai Strait is very scenic with anglers often fishing off the shorelines as well as occasional boatmen going about their duties.

-There’s lots of old historic buildings and ruins; if you’re interested in seeing them we recommend that you take your time exploring and checking everything out because there’s not enough time to see everything on one visit.

3) Discover What’s Nearby

Caernarfon’s mountain ranges are home to many of North Wales’ finest walks.

The seaside towns of Porthmadog and Llanfair PG, with their award-winning beaches, make for popular places to visit just an hour or so away by car.  For families, there is plenty to see and do: National Trust properties at Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd… or head over to Oriel Mostyn Gallery. You might also be tempted to spot animals at RSPB Nant Y Gwynt or Castell Gwyneth Wetlands Nature Reserve while out on one of the many walking trails.

4) Taste some Welsh Cuisine

Traditional welsh cuisine is always immediately appealing. Try Welsh cakes, for example. These small fried rounds of dough are traditionally made with butter, sugar and eggs. People visiting Wales should be open-minded enough to try new tastes and food.  One delight which has become internationally popular is cawl – a broth soup traditionally served on New Year’s Day.

Welsh cuisine also offers some splendid seafood dishes such as cockles cooked with bacon and parsley, or oysters grilled over an open fire.

5) Shop at local boutiques

Locals are more than happy to welcome visitors and help them find their way around. Whether you’re looking for history, culture, or relaxation, every boutique has something that will make you want to come back.
