A spectacular array of retired aircraft awaits you at this charming museum which holds plenty to fascinate the kids and all the airheads out there. Warplanes and people carriers are housed in fantastic surroundings and are looked after superbly by all the staff.
Since 1988 the Air World has gone from strength to strength with new additions landing all the time. This year saw the introduction of the Harrier T2 XW269 which is highly sought after within the aviation community. It proudly sits along with other Harriers as well as other illustrious aircrafts such as the Gloster Javelin and Hawker Hunter F1.
During wartime, the museum was known as RAF Llandwrog and was a veritable breeding ground for esteemed pilots and heroes. As important as any base for home defence, the history is everywhere to see as you walk around its grounds. A quiet few years followed for the base as it was used mainly for agriculture followed by a small operation for the investiture of the Prince of Wales in the late 60’s.
One of the most appreciable aspects of the Air World is that it’s not owned by a large company but is on fact mainly operated by enthusiasts who volunteer for no wage. This brings a real passion to their work and it shows with the care and appreciation evident on all the aircraft at the museum. With all this to bear in mind, a donation (no matter how big or small) is welcomed by the staff and with all children going for free, it could be worth donating a couple of pounds for a great cause.
To really commemorate your stay at this great attraction for all the family, make sure you pick up a little souvenir from the great shop. The Air World is closed for the time being but when it re-opens., there may even be a surprise new plane for you and the whole family to be amazed at.
