One of the brightest cities in all of Wales is a great venue for a day out away from your lodges in Snowdonia, any time of year.
Located in the beautiful Gwynedd county, Bangor has seen a steady rise in infamy and attention since its university really took off in the last decade or so with it being ranked high in the world’s best and also the best in all of Wales, beating out the giants of Cardiff and Newport with it also qualifying in the top 15 across the whole of the United Kingdom.
The students count for about 10,000 of the population which stands at roughly 24,000: making it one of the smallest cities in the country. Though small in populous, the city is big in terms of culture, sights and sounds to take your interest.
Sounds are high on the list with it being a mainstay for musical talent across the country with particular regards to its excellent classical selection. A regular holder of the National Eisteddfod, Bangor can also claim to playing host to many fantastic museums and art collections as well being the venue for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2010.
The musical links keep on coming with it being the hometown for beloved soul singer Duffy who was thought to have been inspired by the wonderful city in her music. Additionally, Bangor has seen a visit from The Beatles as well as providing a great shelter for people during the Second World War.
Bangor Cathedral is a must-see in the seaside city with it being a centre for worship for many thousands of years amongst Christians and its “Mostyn Christ” is one of jaw-dropping beauty with the grounds also having plenty to catch the eye
Located on the gorgeous coast, Bangor is also proud to have two stunning rivers within it as the Rivers Adda and Cegin surround the tranquil and picturesque city with some ports also available to the interest of any avid explorers.
